Original Songs by HOW FAR NORTH

003_edited.jpg

How Far North began in 1988 as a collaboration of brothers Joe Schmidt (Guitar/Vocals) & Neal Schmidt (Bass Guitar/Vocals), Loren Loritz (Drums) and Troy Miller (Guitar/Vocals).  Joe & Troy began prolifically writing songs, initially recording them on a 4-track cassette recorder.  Mike Seil (Keyboards/Vocals) joined the band in 1991.  Zac Swanson became our drummer in 1993.  Bryce Niemiller took over on drums and vocals in 1994.  Mark Wanner served as our drummer from 1995-2000.  Cory Welder finished off our performances in the fall of 2000.

The playlist is chronological, but in reverse order.  "Nowhere to Run" was originally written and recorded in 1994, but finished in 2024, featuring Bryce Niemiller on lead vocal.  "Walkin' Away" is a new How Far North song, completed in 2023.  The songs "Rock Around Your World" through "Walk Away (I Don't Care)" were being recorded for our unreleased 2nd CD, Thanks for Noticing.  The songs "Man Come to Dream" through "Stick It" were released on our debut CD, Frozen Solid (1996).  The remaining tracks were written and recorded between 1991-1994.  All of the original songs of How Far North were in some way written by Loren Loritz, Troy Miller, Bryce Niemiller, Joe Schmidt, Neal Schmidt, Mike Seil and Mark Wanner.
